The Borivli Malayali Samajam is a registered charitable organization under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Income Tax Act, 1961. The Samajam was inaugurated by Late Shri V.K.Krishna Menon on 2nd December, 1961 when he was the Defence Minister of India.

The main aims & objectives of the Samajam are:

(a)    Promote education

(b)   Provide medical relief

(c)    Extend social service and

(d)   To establish and maintain institutions for the cultural, intellectual, physical, educational and economic advancement for the benefit of its members and the public in general

PROMOTION OF EDUCATION :

(a)    Awarding scholarships to meritorious and deserving students

(b)   Organising Inter-School Painting Competitions right from Jr.K.G to Std.X for local schools

(c)    Organising Inter-School Elocution Competitions for Std V to X in English, Hindi & Marathi

(d)   Organising Inter-School Athletic Meet for schools situated between Bandra & Dahisar

(e)   Organising Inter-School March Past Competitions for schools situated between Bandra & Dahisar

(f)     Organising inter-School Folk Dance Competitions for schools situated between Andheri & Virar

(g)    Organising Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competitions

(h)   Conducting Malayalam Classes for the benefit of our members

PROVIDE MEDICAL RELIEF:

(a)    Providing financial assistance for medical treatment

(b)   Running of an Ayurvedic Dispensary including treatment from our own premises

(c)    Running of an Allopathic Diagnostic Centre and Pathology and X-Ray Centre from our own premises

(d)   Holding periodic Health Check-up camps

EXTEND SOCIAL SERVICE :

(a)    Provide all necessary assistance & support to people during a death in their family.

(b)   Provide all support and help during medical emergencies

(c)    Provide manual/financial assistance during natural calamities

(d)   Provide assistance for conducting marriages in the family.

OUR SCHOOL PROJECT: As part of our objective to start and maintain institutions for the cultural, intellectual, physical, educational and economic advancement for the benefit of its members and the public in general, we approached the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) for a plot of land for construction of a School. Looking into our track record in the educational field the MCGM was only too glad to allot us a reserved school plot at Gorai in Borivali (W) admeasuring 6,400 Sq.Mts. The School under the name and style of V.K.Krishna Menon Academy has started functioning from this premises upto Std.VII. We hope to complete the construction work of the school very soon.

MEMBERSHIP: Presently we have around 1200 members on our rolls comprising mainly of working  professionals, school teachers, businessmen and a few self employed people.
